At Brookland Infant and Nursery School we are developing our Outdoor Learning so that all classes will have a lesson outside the classroom at least once a fortnight. Some activities take place in our own Elmwood Forest, whilst others may use different areas of our school grounds:
Early Years – Separate playground with markings, adventure play equipment, covered area which allows for all-year all-weather outdoor activities, trikes and scooters, water and sand trays.
KS1 – A large playground with markings, seating, a wide range of playground games equipment, hedges, trees and a shed containing toys and outdoor learning equipment and resources.
Field –a field, shared with the Junior School, enclosed by hedgerows.
Allotment – an enclosed allotment with raised beds that is used for gardening. Currently a member of staff takes small groups of children to work in the allotment area or other garden areas around the school. A gardening club runs in the Spring/Summer Term after school once a week for Year 2 children
