Vision
We seek to provide children with an enthusiasm for mathematical learning which will give them a base to become lifelong fluent mathematicians. We will support children in exploring their natural curiosity and desire to problem solve so they can master the skills and steps required to have a deep understanding of mathematical concepts. We want to provide children with a variety of strategies so that they can confidently apply their learning and explain their reasoning clearly. They will know what strategies are the most effective to solve different number problems.
Maths is devided into seven strands as follows:
- Number and Place Value
- Addition and Subtraction
- Multiplication and Division
- Fractions
- Measurements
- Geometry – Properties and Shapes
- Position and Direction
We use White Rose Maths as a scheme which adheres to the Education Programme for Mathematics (EYFS) and the National Curriculum (KS1) and breaks down the objectives into small steps across the year. We are also guided by the NCETM.
